Day One Hundred and Sixty-Eight of 366.

Today was a pretty tremendous day! I finally finished the new draft of my play based on the insightful advice of the AD of Playwriting Australia. I really thank him for his support and I hope that I can make something worthwhile at the Sydney Fringe Festival in September! I think this new draft is running a lot better, is more active and more engaging for an audience to follow. With this said, however, I think that I have lost some of the original charm, language and relationship between the protagonists which I sure hope to regain in my next draft!

Bon Voyage… For a time…

So, in other breaking news: a little surprise for any lovely readers out there! I will be heading to Japan tomorrow for three week for an immersive cultural and personal retreat! But don’t think I will be forgetting the challenge I laid out for myself 168 days ago (I made my bed and now I must lie in it)! I will be spending these next three weeks learning about and experiencing Japanese art and culture: from Noh theatre, to Kabuki, to Harajuku Girls to Hello Kitty World! I will also continue to practice my writing and my play will always be in my mind. Additionally (and frightfully!) I have a very important audition a few days after my return for an eminent Shakespeare theatre company, so I will, in fact, be spending the next three weeks working up two, yes TWO, Shakespeare audition monologues! Challenge accepted!

So, please note, as I will be overseas, having to negotiate internet access and poor dial-up cafes (Tokyo, I’m guessing will endow me with wonderful speedy wi-fi), I may not have each post up each day, but I will be writing them, and I will be doing something each day to assist me towards my career goals… and the posts will get out there in the world-wide-ether as soon as possible!

All the best everyone!
